How the schools will be
run

MANDAL
SOU LAKH BALAK
Every mandal will take care of 100
children.
Together we will provide college level education
to
One lakh x 100
children.
VERY SIMPLE. VERY
EASY.
This program is not
about sending donation and leaving it to other people to do the
work. This program is about sending money and staying directly
involved in the work that is to be done with that
money.
This program is for
people who want to get directly involved in the lives of the
children they will be helping. They will want to know the children
personally, know their parents and teachers. They will want to stay
in constant contact with them. They will want to be involved in
children's education and up bringing. Their individual and
collective aim will be to provide college level education to every
child under their care.
Every "mandal" will
aim to help 100 children. They can start with just one child and
keep helping as many more as they can. Anyone who wishes to donate
money but has no time to get personally involved in children's
lives, should team-up with someone in their area who is personally
involved.
We have created a
proper work system. We will keep improving it as we go. Guidance and
support will be available to everyone at every step. Every
individual, family, group and organization will be able to work
independently and smoothly.
You can play as big a part as you
choose

A "mandal" is any number
of individuals and/or families working together as one group. A
"mandal" is also a business and its customers working as one group.
A non-profit organization is a "mandal". Several non-profit orgs
working together as one group is one
"mandal".
You can start
helping just one child and keep helping as many more as you can.
Your aim should be to help 100 poor children acquire college level
education. As you proceed, lot of guidance and support will be
available to help you reach your aim.
Any individual or
family with a strong desire to help the children can start their own
Mandal. Your mandal may be only one person, you, OR you and your
family OR any number of people you choose to involve with
you.
If you are a
Mandir, Bhajan Mandal, Cultural Organization, Non-Profit Org,
College Students Org you should do this along with your other
activities.
We have created a
proper work system. We will keep improving it as we go. Guidance and
support will be available to everyone at every step. Every
individual, family, group and organization will be able to work
independently and smoothly.
General idea of how it will work
You choose the school you want
to help, anywhere in India. There are two kinds of schools (1) Schools
to be started by Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools (2) Schools run by
other NGOs.
Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools plans
to build atleast one school in every district throughout the
country. As soon as we acquire land we will build temporary structures
and start the school. We will plan and construct school
buildings thereafter. These schools will not be a part of
or under the control of Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools. Every school
will be a separate and independent organization. Every school will
have its own independent Board of Trustees and Board of
Directors.
Every Board of Trustees will have
five members from India and five members who are normally residing in
foreign countries. Every Board of Directors will have 10
members who are normally residing in foreign countries and upto 10
members living in India. A trustee will not be a Director and vice
versa. All "mandals" supporting the school will be members of that
organization. They will elect the Directors every two years. All schools
will have independent auditors and attorneys.
Every school will be supported
and managed by "mandals" referred to above, all of them will also
be separate and independent groups. The schools will work independently. The
mandals may be anywhere in the world. Every mandal helping
a school will know every other mandal helping that school. They
will stay in regular contact with one another. They will work
directly with the school, not with Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools.
One person from every mandal will be on the school's Working
Committee which will plan and manage the school's budget,
educational programs and all other activities. They will decide the
per child contribution every mandal should make. Every mandal will
make monthly contributions for the number of children they would be
supporting. Every member will be actively involved in atleast one
sub-committee.
There will be several
hundred children in most schools. Some schools may have a thousand
or more. Each mandal will support only as many children as they
can. Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools will support the children not
supported by any mandal until new mandals join in and support
them.
SCHOOLS RUN BY OTHER
NGOs
All schools located anywhere in India are
welcome to participate in this program. You will need to amend your
by-laws and have Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, Mandals as
members and all work system as in MAA schools. We cannot help you if
you don't do this.
PLEASE INTRODUCE
YOURSELF
Schools that may want to
participate and everyone who may want to support a school, including
a MAA school, please send us your brief introduction. We will make
introductions between schools and the people who may want to help
them, also between people who may want to help the same school or a
school in the same district. We will do this so everyone can contact
one another and begin to get acquinted and begin their discussion
and planning. Everyone will do this on their own. MAA is not
involved in this process except to provide guidance when asked
for.
Those who want to
support a school, please write the district and state where you
would like to support and the kind of school you would like to
support, bal-mandir, primary, secondary, or as your preference may
be.
Some schools and
some people may need guidance going thru this process. If you need
help please contact us. We welcome those who may want to volunteer
their time to assist others in this process. Those who may want to
do it for a fee are barred.

do this. Make a video to introduce yourself and your group. Put it
on YouTube, MySpace, any site, so people around the world can see
it. Do it in your language or do it in English if you want.
Introduction on YouTube will help people planning to help in the
same district/state make contact with one another, form their own
groups, plan ahead.

Please understand
this very clearly
Before you do anything,
we urge everyone to think about this very carefully. Don't make a
decision on impulse. If you get involved in this, your involvement
has to be continuous and dependable. You will be working with the
school, with other mandals and with the children. When many people
are working together to accomplish something, the success of that
work depends on everyone doing their part. Therefore, everyone who
gets involved in this will be expected to do their part in a
positive and timely manner. You can drop out at any time if
something don't work out for you. But if you stay in, you have to be
absolutely positively dependable. You cannot do your part as and
when you have the time to do it or as and when you are in the mood
to do it. If you do that you won't be with us any more and you will
be cut off from us forever.
Please also understand
this very clearly. At Mata Annapurna Ashrams and Schools the culture
is of harmony and positive efforts. All the discussions and actions
are focused on the purpose, which is, to feed the children who are
hungry and helpless and to give them the best possible education. No
one has time or tolerance for any distraction.
